Our TAFA evening courses begin this week. Both Portrait Anatomy and our Figure Lab will be 11 week courses. Both courses include life drawing with model. Please note that we are changing some of our policies for evening courses and pre-approval must gained via application. Anatomical Portrait Drawing, 11 weeks, Tuesdays from 6:30-8:30pm, cost is $285 or $30 dollars per session (this course begins Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016) Description: This is a drawing course is designed to improve your understanding of portraiture. It will emphasizes the anatomy of the head and shoulders. Each week a feature of the head and face will be studied, such as the eye, the nose, the mouth, etc., Whether your are portrait painter or just want to improve your figure drawings this course will help your understanding of proportions, anatomy and structure of the human head. This course is included in the full-time tuition rate for TAFA students. 2. We completed our 2nd TAFA Teen Workshop this summer. Many promising young teen artists were encouraged to find a classically-based program at TAFA. They worked hard for two intensive weeks in July making still life paintings, Old Master drawings, and self-portraits. The teens displayed strong drawing and painting skills as they were introduced to the concepts of classical realism. They showed a high level of dedication and passion for classical art. TAFA extends a big thank you to last weekend's panel members Dr. C.D. Dickerson, Mr. John Hartley, and Mr. Ron Cheek for their engaging lecture on Contemporary Figurative Art Education. Dr. Dickerson has been recently appointed curator and head of sculpture and decorative arts at the National Gallery of Art.  John Hartley is a contemporary artist & Professor of Fine Art at Tarrant County College. Ron Cheek is a contemporary realist painter and is the director of the Texas Academy of Figurative Art. Saturday, Ron Cheek, TAFA Director and Drew Boatright, TAFA Instructor taught a packed room for a day of figure modeling.
