TAFA Lecture and Workshop May 1st and 2nd


TAFA hosts a weekend of art events – an art education lecture and figurative workshop – on May 1st and 2nd.

Friday evening May 1st, 6.30pm-8pm, Panel Discussion on the topic Art Education and Contemporary Methods in TAFA Gallery followed by a time for questions and answers. Light refreshments provided.

Panel Speakers will include:

Ron Cheek, Artist and TAFA Director

C.D. Dickerson, Ph.d., Curator of European art at the Kimbell Art Museum

John Hartley, Artist and Professor of Fine Arts; Tarrant County College

Saturday, May 2nd, 10am-3pm, TAFA offers a figurative art workshop open to the public. TAFA Director Ron Cheek will demonstrate the core elements of Academic Figure Drawing and the TAFA approach. Attendees will draw from a live model with critiques by Mr. Cheek and TAFA instructor Drew Boatright. Light refreshments provided.

Supplies for the workshop should be the following: Canson Mi-Teintes Drawing paper (toned off-white), pencils in the following leads (2H, F, HB, 2B), Vine Charcoal (hard, medium, soft), General White Charcoal Pencil, Kneaded Eraser, Drawing board that is preferably 18 x 30 inches masonite panel.

Location: The lecture and workshop will be held in the TAFA Studios & Gallery, 415 South Main Street, Fort Worth, TX 76104. Free admission to both events. Seating is limited. Please contact tafastudio@me.com to reserve your place.
